Part 1

Welcome to your Chromecast Review course.

Inside this online education class you learn a bit more about a low cost product that makes your HD TV display stuff from the screen of your computer, cell phone, or tablet.

About three months ago, I read an article about this product.

After reading the article... I decided to explore if a digital media streaming device would help make your learning experience better here at EducateZap.

Online Learning: How to Cast Streaming Media

Nine days ago I bought mine from one of my favorite electronics stores, Best Buy. It cost me exactly $37.10 including taxes. I was happy with the price and now I was wondering how long it was going to take me to setup and install this thing.

My first Digital Media Streaming Adapter

"the streaming adapter is plugged into the back of my old HD TV"

When you first see the product's box sitting on your table at home, the box reads, “…the easiest way to watch online video on your TV”. thinking…we will soon see if this was true or false.

Why Did I Buy This Streaming Adapter?

I am always searching for ways to be 100% mobile. I am always searching for ways that allow my mobile experience to be as fast as possible. I really, really, really dislike slow mobile.

  • It is very easy to pay for super-fast technology if you have the money. I wanted to discover super-fast technology for free or at a very low cost.

I bought this thing because of an article I read, ‘Google Simplifies YouTube And Netflix Viewing On TV Sets With $35 Product’ (opens in a new window). My online school focuses on using YouTube and Netflix.

In addition, the article mentioned that the device could be controlled by your computer, mobile phone, or tablet. That really got me thinking.

I already had three things that were all purchased sometime ago back in 2011.

  • I had an old HD TV with Wi-Fi.
  • I had an old laptop computer with Wi-Fi.
  • I had an old Android phone with Wi-Fi and unlimited Internet access.

My Personal Experience with Chromecast Setup

First of all, I am not an expert with Wi-Fi, Android, or Internet connectivity. I am pretty good with following easy instructions.

So, my goal was to use this product to make display on my HD TV. In addition, I only wanted to use my old Android cell phone’s internet connection.

  • I thought this was going to be easy, but I ran into a few different problems. (this distance course continues on the next page)
